**The short answer:** An AppuBot bot connected to Airtable can search your bases, add and update records, fill fields and summarise what a table shows. With "Approve for me" it asks before it creates or changes a record. Searching and reading do not need approval.

## What can a bot do in Airtable?

Airtable bases often become the source of truth for a small business or a team, from a content tracker to a client list. A bot can do the data entry and answer questions in plain words.

- **Search records.** Find the rows that match a client, a status or a date range.
- **Add records.** Create a row from a message, an email or a photo.
- **Update fields.** Change a status, a date or an owner across several records at once.
- **Answer questions.** Count and group, for example how many orders are late by supplier.
- **Summarise a view.** Describe what is in a view and what needs attention.
- **Check data quality.** List rows with blank required fields.

## What can you ask a bot to do in Airtable?

These are the kinds of requests that work well. Type them in the app, or send them from your phone on Telegram.

- "Add a record to Clients: Orchard Studio, onboarding, owner Lena."
- "Which projects in the tracker are marked blocked?"
- "Set the status of the three posts I just named to Scheduled."
- "How many orders are late, grouped by supplier?"
- "List records in Contacts that have no email address."

## How do you connect Airtable to AppuBot?

1. Open AppuBot on your computer.
2. Click **Connect apps** in the sidebar to open the Apps page.
3. Sign in once in your browser. This links AppuBot to your own account for connected apps, and you only do it the first time.
4. Find Airtable on the page and connect it. Your browser opens Airtable's own sign-in and consent screen, and you approve it there.
5. Switch Airtable on for the bots that may use it. Each bot has its own switch, so a bot you did not choose never touches it.

_The same Apps page lists about 1,700 other apps. Connecting one app once makes it available to every bot you allow._

## Will it ask before it changes things in Airtable?

Adding or editing records changes data others rely on, so on "Approve for me" the bot tells you what it will write and waits. Searching and reading records goes ahead.

This follows the bot's permission choice. On "Approve for me" the bot asks before it acts in your account, and it waits as long as you take. Reads and searches go ahead without a question. On "Full access" it acts without asking, so keep that for bots you trust with the app. More in [Approvals](https://appubot.com/features/approvals).

## What should you know before relying on a bot in Airtable?

A bot works through your own Airtable account, so it can do what that account can do and nothing more. If a task fails, it tells you why in the chat instead of guessing.

Be specific about which project, folder, list or account you mean when you have several, and say once what the bot should never touch. You can save that in its [memory](https://appubot.com/features/memory) so it applies to every chat. AppuBot is free during early access and needs no AppuBot account, and you keep using the AI plan you already have.

## Which routines suit Airtable?

A base that someone checks weekly is a ready-made [routine](https://appubot.com/features/routines).

- **Monday blockers.** List records marked blocked and their owners.
- **Data-quality check.** Weekly, list rows missing key fields.
- **Content due.** Daily, send items scheduled for today.

## Airtable with computer use and Telegram

The connection works with records. If you need something the connection does not offer, such as designing an interface or an automation, [computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use) lets the bot work in the Airtable window, and its [files](https://appubot.com/features/files) feature covers attachments you send.

On [Telegram](https://appubot.com/features/telegram) you can send a photo of a product and say "add it to the Inventory base with this name". The bot creates the record and replies with what it wrote.

## Is it private to use Airtable with a bot?

It uses your own Airtable account and sees the bases it gives access to. Data it reads goes to its AI provider to be worked on, like pasting rows in yourself. Turn Airtable off for a bot whenever you want.

Turn the app off for a bot at any time from its switch on the Apps page, and the bot loses access at once. You can also disconnect the app completely. See [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) for how connections work.

## Questions

### Can it see all my bases?

It can see what your account and the connection allow. Name the base and table in your request.

### Does it understand linked records?

It can read links and use them in answers. For tricky structures, describe the layout once and save it in its [memory](https://appubot.com/features/memory).

### Can it delete records?

Only if asked, and it asks first on "Approve for me".

### How is this different from Google Sheets?

Sheets is a spreadsheet and Airtable is a database with linked tables. Both are covered, see [Google Sheets](https://appubot.com/apps/google-sheets).
