**The short answer:** An AppuBot bot connected to Asana can read your projects, create tasks and subtasks, assign them, set due dates and summarise progress. With "Approve for me" it asks before it creates or changes a task. Reading and searching do not need approval.

## What can a bot do in Asana?

Asana is a system of promises, and it only works if the tasks get written and updated. A bot can write them from conversations and tell you what is slipping.

- **Create tasks.** Turn a meeting note or an email into tasks with owners and due dates.
- **Break work down.** Split a task into subtasks and put them in the right sections.
- **Reassign and reschedule.** Move a due date and tell you who is affected.
- **Summarise a project.** Report what is complete, in progress and late.
- **Find your work.** List tasks assigned to you, or to a teammate, due this week.
- **Write status updates.** Draft the progress note for a project from its tasks.

## What can you ask a bot to do in Asana?

These are the kinds of requests that work well. Type them in the app, or send them from your phone on Telegram.

- "Create tasks from these meeting notes and assign them to the people named."
- "What is late in the Brand Refresh project?"
- "Move the launch task to Friday and tell me who depends on it."
- "List what is assigned to me and due this week."
- "Draft a status update for the Q4 plan."

## How do you connect Asana to AppuBot?

1. Open AppuBot on your computer.
2. Click **Connect apps** in the sidebar to open the Apps page.
3. Sign in once in your browser. This links AppuBot to your own account for connected apps, and you only do it the first time.
4. Find Asana on the page and connect it. Your browser opens Asana's own sign-in and consent screen, and you approve it there.
5. Switch Asana on for the bots that may use it. Each bot has its own switch, so a bot you did not choose never touches it.

_The same Apps page lists about 1,700 other apps. Connecting one app once makes it available to every bot you allow._

## Will it ask before it changes things in Asana?

Creating and changing tasks affects teammates, who get notifications, so on "Approve for me" the bot shows you the change and waits. Reading and searching go ahead.

This follows the bot's permission choice. On "Approve for me" the bot asks before it acts in your account, and it waits as long as you take. Reads and searches go ahead without a question. On "Full access" it acts without asking, so keep that for bots you trust with the app. More in [Approvals](https://appubot.com/features/approvals).

## What should you know before relying on a bot in Asana?

A bot works through your own Asana account, so it can do what that account can do and nothing more. If a task fails, it tells you why in the chat instead of guessing.

Be specific about which project, folder, list or account you mean when you have several, and say once what the bot should never touch. You can save that in its [memory](https://appubot.com/features/memory) so it applies to every chat. AppuBot is free during early access and needs no AppuBot account, and you keep using the AI plan you already have.

## Which routines suit Asana?

Project rhythms are a good use of [routines](https://appubot.com/features/routines).

- **Monday plan.** List your tasks due this week and any that are late.
- **Friday status.** Draft the weekly status update for your projects for review.
- **Overdue alert.** Daily, flag tasks more than two days late.

## Asana with computer use and Telegram

The connection covers tasks, projects and comments. When a job needs the Asana app's screen, for example arranging a timeline view, [computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use) lets the bot click through it on your computer.

On [Telegram](https://appubot.com/features/telegram) you can reply to the bot's morning list with "push the second one to Monday" and it updates the task.

## Is it private to use Asana with a bot?

It uses your own Asana account and sees the workspaces and projects you can. Task text it reads goes to its AI provider to be worked on, like pasting it in yourself. You can turn Asana off per bot at any time.

Turn the app off for a bot at any time from its switch on the Apps page, and the bot loses access at once. You can also disconnect the app completely. See [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) for how connections work.

## Questions

### Can it assign tasks to other people?

It can, and because that notifies them, "Approve for me" asks you first.

### Can it work across several workspaces?

It can see what your account can see. Name the workspace or project in your request.

### Does it set up recurring tasks?

It can create the tasks you describe. For regular nudges to yourself, a [routine](https://appubot.com/features/routines) in AppuBot is often simpler.

### What about Trello boards?

Connect both. The [Trello page](https://appubot.com/apps/trello) covers cards and lists.
