**The short answer:** An AppuBot bot connected to Dropbox can search your folders, open files to answer questions, upload files and organise them. With "Approve for me" it asks before it moves, renames, deletes or shares anything. Searching and reading do not need approval.

## What can a bot do in Dropbox?

Dropbox is often where contracts, photos and client files end up. A bot can find the right one and keep new ones in order.

- **Find files.** Search by name, folder or what a document is about.
- **Read and answer.** Open a file and pull out the figure, date or clause you need.
- **Upload.** Save files you send the bot into the folder you name.
- **Organise.** Sort a folder into sub-folders by client, year or type.
- **Report.** List big or old files so you can decide what to clear.
- **Hand over files.** Fetch a file so the bot can attach it to a message or send it on Telegram.

## What can you ask a bot to do in Dropbox?

These are the kinds of requests that work well. Type them in the app, or send them from your phone on Telegram.

- "Find the signed NDA for Brightline."
- "Upload this photo to Clients/Orchard/Site visit."
- "What is in the Taxes 2025 folder?"
- "List the ten biggest files in my Dropbox."
- "Send me the latest brochure PDF here in the chat."

## How do you connect Dropbox to AppuBot?

1. Open AppuBot on your computer.
2. Click **Connect apps** in the sidebar to open the Apps page.
3. Sign in once in your browser. This links AppuBot to your own account for connected apps, and you only do it the first time.
4. Find Dropbox on the page and connect it. Your browser opens Dropbox's own sign-in and consent screen, and you approve it there.
5. Switch Dropbox on for the bots that may use it. Each bot has its own switch, so a bot you did not choose never touches it.

_The same Apps page lists about 1,700 other apps. Connecting one app once makes it available to every bot you allow._

## Will it ask before it changes things in Dropbox?

Uploading, moving, renaming, deleting and sharing change your account, and sharing affects who can see a file, so on "Approve for me" the bot asks first. Searching and reading go ahead.

This follows the bot's permission choice. On "Approve for me" the bot asks before it acts in your account, and it waits as long as you take. Reads and searches go ahead without a question. On "Full access" it acts without asking, so keep that for bots you trust with the app. More in [Approvals](https://appubot.com/features/approvals).

## What should you know before relying on a bot in Dropbox?

A bot works through your own Dropbox account, so it can do what that account can do and nothing more. If a task fails, it tells you why in the chat instead of guessing.

Be specific about which project, folder, list or account you mean when you have several, and say once what the bot should never touch. You can save that in its [memory](https://appubot.com/features/memory) so it applies to every chat. AppuBot is free during early access and needs no AppuBot account, and you keep using the AI plan you already have.

## Which routines suit Dropbox?

Folders fill up slowly, so a [routine](https://appubot.com/features/routines) can keep them in shape.

- **Weekly filing.** Fridays, sort the Inbox folder into project folders.
- **Large-file report.** Monthly, list the biggest and oldest files.
- **Backup check.** Weekly, tell you if a key folder has had no new files for a month.

## Dropbox with computer use and Telegram

The connection works with your Dropbox in the cloud. A file on your own computer can be handled directly with [files](https://appubot.com/features/files), and [computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use) covers the Dropbox app's own settings when they matter.

On [Telegram](https://appubot.com/features/telegram) you can say "send me the latest brochure" and the bot fetches it from Dropbox and sends the file back to your phone.

## Is it private to use Dropbox with a bot?

It uses your own Dropbox account and the files it can open. A file it reads goes to its AI provider so it can answer, like pasting it in yourself. Turn Dropbox off per bot whenever you like.

Turn the app off for a bot at any time from its switch on the Apps page, and the bot loses access at once. You can also disconnect the app completely. See [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) for how connections work.

### Can I use Dropbox and Google Drive together?

Yes, connect both. See the [Google Drive page](https://appubot.com/apps/google-drive).
