**The short answer:** An AppuBot bot connected to Stripe can look up payments, customers, subscriptions and invoices, and report on revenue. It can be set up to create invoices or refunds, but those move money, so with "Approve for me" it asks first. Reading does not need approval.

## What can a bot do in Stripe?

Stripe is where money arrives, and questions about it come at awkward times: did this customer pay, why did this charge fail. A bot can answer from your account in seconds.

- **Look up a payment.** Find a charge by customer, amount or date and say whether it succeeded.
- **Explain failures.** Look at a failed payment and say what the reason was.
- **Find customers.** Show a customer's subscriptions, invoices and payment history.
- **Report revenue.** Summarise payments for a period, grouped by product or plan.
- **List invoices.** Show which invoices are open or overdue.
- **Prepare the books.** Export a period's payments to a sheet for [accounting](https://appubot.com/bots/accounting).

## What can you ask a bot to do in Stripe?

These are the kinds of requests that work well. Type them in the app, or send them from your phone on Telegram.

- "Did Orchard Studio pay their invoice from last week?"
- "Why did this customer's payment fail?"
- "List all open invoices older than 30 days."
- "Summarise payments for September by plan."
- "Show me the last five refunds."

## How do you connect Stripe to AppuBot?

1. Open AppuBot on your computer.
2. Click **Connect apps** in the sidebar to open the Apps page.
3. Sign in once in your browser. This links AppuBot to your own account for connected apps, and you only do it the first time.
4. Find Stripe on the page and connect it. Your browser opens Stripe's own sign-in and consent screen, and you approve it there.
5. Switch Stripe on for the bots that may use it. Each bot has its own switch, so a bot you did not choose never touches it.

_The same Apps page lists about 1,700 other apps. Connecting one app once makes it available to every bot you allow._

## Will it ask before it changes things in Stripe?

Anything that moves money or changes billing, such as refunds, invoices and subscription changes, needs your approval on "Approve for me", and you see the amount and customer first. Looking up payments goes ahead.

This follows the bot's permission choice. On "Approve for me" the bot asks before it acts in your account, and it waits as long as you take. Reads and searches go ahead without a question. On "Full access" it acts without asking, so keep that for bots you trust with the app. More in [Approvals](https://appubot.com/features/approvals).

## What should you know before relying on a bot in Stripe?

A bot works through your own Stripe account, so it can do what that account can do and nothing more. If a task fails, it tells you why in the chat instead of guessing.

Be specific about which project, folder, list or account you mean when you have several, and say once what the bot should never touch. You can save that in its [memory](https://appubot.com/features/memory) so it applies to every chat. AppuBot is free during early access and needs no AppuBot account, and you keep using the AI plan you already have.

## Which routines suit Stripe?

Money checks recur on a calendar, so a [routine](https://appubot.com/features/routines) works well.

- **Daily payments.** Each morning, summarise yesterday's payments and failures.
- **Weekly overdue list.** Mondays, list overdue invoices for follow-up.
- **Month-end export.** On the first, put the month's payments into a sheet.

## Stripe with computer use and Telegram

The connection reads and acts on your Stripe data. For something only in the dashboard's screens, [computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use) lets the bot open it and look. For the books it pairs with [QuickBooks](https://appubot.com/apps/quickbooks) or [Xero](https://appubot.com/apps/xero).

On [Telegram](https://appubot.com/features/telegram) you can ask "did the payment from Acme come in?" while away from your desk, and get a straight answer.

## Is it private to use Stripe with a bot?

It uses your own Stripe account and sees the data your access allows, which includes customer details. What it reads goes to its AI provider to be worked on, so keep that in mind for sensitive data. Turn Stripe off per bot any time. We suggest keeping bots with Stripe access on "Approve for me".

Turn the app off for a bot at any time from its switch on the Apps page, and the bot loses access at once. You can also disconnect the app completely. See [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) for how connections work.

## Questions

### Can a bot issue refunds?

It can be set up to, but refunds move money, so keep the bot on "Approve for me" and approve each one.

### Does it see card numbers?

Stripe does not expose full card numbers, so a bot sees what Stripe shows an account like yours.

### Can it find why a payment failed?

Yes, it reads the failure details Stripe records and explains them in plain words.

### Can it update my accounting software?

It can help prepare the numbers and enter them in [QuickBooks](https://appubot.com/apps/quickbooks) or [Xero](https://appubot.com/apps/xero), asking first.
