# AI agent approvals: nothing important without your OK

**The short answer:** In AppuBot you choose, for each bot, how much it may do without asking. On "Approve for me", it does routine steps like reading and searching on its own and asks before anything important, waiting for your answer however long you take. On "Full access", it works without asking. Either way you can watch it work and stop it at any time, and you can answer from the app or from Telegram.

## What are the two choices?

| | Approve for me | Full access |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Reading, searching, thinking | Goes ahead | Goes ahead |
| Changing files, running things, using apps | Routine steps go ahead, the rest asks you | Goes ahead |
| Acting in your accounts (sending email, posting) | Asks you | Goes ahead |
| Good for | New bots, anything touching money or other people | Bots you trust with a well-known job |

_With Claude Code and Codex, "Approve for me" uses the agent's own check to decide which steps are routine. With other agents, AppuBot asks about everything beyond reading and searching._

## How does asking work?

1. The bot reaches a step that needs your OK and pauses.
2. You see a card in the chat saying what it wants to do, with Allow and Deny, plus a notification if AppuBot is in the background.
3. If the task started on Telegram, the question comes there with buttons, so you can answer from your phone.
4. It waits as long as you take: there is no timeout that decides for you.
5. Allow and it carries on; Deny and it looks for another way or tells you it can't.

## What always asks, whatever the setting?

- **Giving a bot more power.** Turning on computer use or an app for a bot, moving it to Full access or to another AI, when a bot asks for it itself.
- **Making new bots.** A bot can propose a new bot; it is made only after you allow it.
- **New schedules.** A routine a bot creates, or a new prompt or time for one, waits for you ([routines](https://appubot.com/features/routines)).
- **Changing another bot.** One bot editing another bot's name, job or instructions shows you the whole change first.

## Other ways you stay in control

You can watch a bot work in real time: a small pointer with its face shows each click in your apps ([computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use)). Stop is always one click away, or /stop on Telegram. Only Telegram accounts you approved can message your bots. And each bot only uses the [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) you turned on for it.

## Which setting should I use?

Start every new bot on **Approve for me**. You'll see the kinds of steps it takes and how it asks, and nothing important happens behind your back. After a while you'll know which jobs it handles well.

Move a bot to **Full access** when its job is well known and low risk, like sorting files in its own folder or keeping a sheet up to date, and when stopping to ask would defeat the point, like a routine that runs at night. Keep bots that send email, post, pay or delete things in your accounts on Approve for me, or give them only the [connected apps](https://appubot.com/features/connected-apps) they need.

When a bot asks for more power itself (computer use, another app, Full access), you always see the request and decide.

## Questions

### Is Full access dangerous?

It lets a bot act without asking, so use it for bots with well-known, low-risk jobs; you can still watch, stop it and limit which apps it may use.

### Does an AppuBot bot ask before doing things?

On "Approve for me", yes: anything important waits for your OK. On "Full access" it works without asking, which you choose per bot.

### What happens if I don't answer?

Nothing: the bot waits until you do, with no timeout, and you can also stop the task.

### Can I approve from my phone?

Yes, for tasks started on Telegram: the question arrives in the chat with Allow and Deny buttons.

### Can I change a bot's setting later?

Yes, any time, from the composer or the bot's settings; you can also set what new bots start with in Settings.

### Do approvals cover what a bot does in Gmail or Slack?

Yes. On Approve for me, sending, posting or changing anything in a connected app waits for your OK, while looking things up goes ahead.
