**The short answer:** AppuBot bots take files and give files back. Drop a PDF, spreadsheet, photo or recording into the chat, or send it on Telegram, and the bot reads it and works with it on your computer. It sends back what it made, like an invoice, an export, a renamed batch of files or a chart, and can also show a small visual answer with tables and charts right in the chat.

## What can I send a bot?

- **Documents.** PDFs, Word and text files, spreadsheets, CSVs.
- **Pictures.** Photos and screenshots, which the bot can actually look at: a receipt, a whiteboard, an error message.
- **Audio and video.** Recordings and voice notes, which it can turn into text on your computer ([voice](https://appubot.com/features/voice)).
- **Anything else.** Any file attaches to a message; drag it into the chat or paste it.

_Very large photos are made smaller before they go to the AI so they fit; unusual formats like HEIC are converted for you._

## What does a bot send back?

- **Files it made.** An invoice PDF, an exported sheet, a cleaned-up CSV, a resized image.
- **Visual answers.** A small page in the chat with a table, a chart or a summary, which you can open full size. Handy for "compare these three quotes" or "how did spending change this month".
- **Diagrams.** Flowcharts and timelines drawn right in the reply.
- **Voice notes.** A spoken reply, if you asked for one.

## How does it work, step by step?

1. Attach a file in the chat (drag, paste or the + button), or send it to your bot on [Telegram](https://appubot.com/features/telegram).
2. Say what you want: "pull the totals into my expenses sheet", "summarise this contract", "rename these by date".
3. The bot works on it on your computer, using its own folder for anything it makes.
4. It sends the result as a file you can open in its usual app with one click, or as a visual answer in the chat.

## Where are my files kept?

On your computer. Files you send and files a bot makes are kept with the chat, and you can open any of them in its own app or show it in its folder. Settings › Storage shows how much room chats use and can clear old files after a set time, or keep them forever (the default).

A file reaches the bot's AI provider only when the bot reads it for your task, as when you upload it to that AI yourself.

## Examples of real file jobs

- **"Here are 30 receipts, put them in my expenses sheet."** It reads each photo and adds date, shop and amount ([expense manager](https://appubot.com/bots/expense-manager)).
- **"Compare these three quotes."** It reads the PDFs and answers with a table of price, terms and delivery, side by side in the chat.
- **"Make an invoice for Acme for October."** It fills your template and sends back the PDF ([accounting bot](https://appubot.com/bots/accounting)).
- **"Transcribe this interview and pull out the quotes."** It turns the recording into text on your computer and sends back a document.
- **"Shrink these photos for the website."** It resizes them and sends back a zip.

## Questions

### Can a bot open the file in the right app for me?

Yes. Every file in the chat opens in its usual app with one click, or shows in its folder.

### Can I send a PDF to my AI assistant and get a summary?

Yes. Attach the PDF in the app or on Telegram and ask; the reply comes back as text, a file or a visual summary.

### Can a bot fill in a spreadsheet from files I send?

Yes. It can read receipts, invoices or exports and add them to a sheet, in a file or in your spreadsheet app through [computer use](https://appubot.com/features/computer-use).

### How big can files be?

In the app there's no set limit; on Telegram, bots can receive up to 20 MB and send up to 50 MB, Telegram's own limits.

### Are my files uploaded to AppuBot?

No. They stay on your computer; only what the bot reads for a task goes to its AI provider.

### Can my bot make charts from my data?

Yes. Ask for a chart and it can answer with a visual reply in the chat, or make an image or spreadsheet with the chart in it.
